"The Republic of Slovenia issues new gold
and silver collectors coins to honour the
centenary of the first flight of a powered
aircraft over Slovenia. The coins feature a
portrait of Edvard Rusjan the pilot of this
maiden flight in 1909. Rusjan was the first
Slovene aviator. His first flight was near
Campagnuzza (Male Rojce) near Gorica
(now Gorizia, Italy) on November 25, 1909
in Eda I, a biplane of his own design, which
was followed by several improved designs.
He died in Beograd during a promotional
tour through the Balkan cities when his
airplane's wing broke during the flight and
he crashed into Kalemegdan hill."
