Rok 2001 je významný mezník v dějinách lidstva. Je to
první rok dvacátého prvního století a první rok třetího tisíciletí.
Nástup nového tisíciletí se často pojí s představami o budoucnosti
lidstva a s vizí pokroku ve všech oborech lidské činnosti. Symbol pohledu
do budoucnosti nalezneme na minci v motivu stylizovaného oka, které je
vkomponované do obrazu slunce. Součástí kompozice je Země a některé další
planety sluneční soustavy označující naše místo ve vesmíru. Začátek
tisíciletí je též příležitostí k hledání odpovědi na otázky smyslu
existence lidské společnosti i člověka jednotlivce.
To jestli lidstvo dokáže využít nové poznatky a možnosti ke zkvalitnění
svého života a v zájmu všeobecného prospěchu, ovlivní jeho morální
vyspělost i schopnost uvědomit si svou zodpovědnost za život současné i
dalších generací, stejně jako za záchranu jiných forem života.
Naléhavou potřebu vzájemné spolupráce, tolerance, pomoci, porozumění a
sounáležitosti lidstva vyjadřuje obraz tří ruk směřujících k sobě a
písmena alfa a omega řecké abecedy mezi nimi.

5000 Slovak Crown Coin Commemorating the Beginning of the Third Millennium.
The
year 2001 represents an exceptional temporal milestone in the history of
humanity. It is the first year of the twenty first century and the first year
of the third millennium. The beginning of the new millennium is often
connected with ideas about the future of humanity and a vision of progress in
all areas of human knowledge. We find a symbol of looking into the future on
the obverse of the coin in the motif of a stylized eye, placed in a depiction
of the sun. The design also includes the Earth and some of the other planets
of the solar system, indicating our place in the universe. The beginning of
the millennium is also an occasion for seeking an answer to the question of
the meaning of the existence of human society and the person as an individual.
Whether
humanity used new knowledge and possibilities to improve the quality of life
and in the interest of the common good will be influenced by its moral
maturity and ability to realize its responsibility for the life of the present
and future generation, as well as for the protection of other forms of life on
the Earth. The urgent need for mutual cooperation, tolerance, help,
understanding and solidarity among people is represented by the hands directed
towards each other in the middle of the reverze, with the Greek letters alpha
and omega between them.

Das
Jahr 2001 stellt einen außerordentlichen Meilenstein in
der Geschichte der Menschheit dar. Es ist das erste Jahr des 21. Jahrhunderts
sowie des dritten Jahrtausends. Der Antritt des neuen Jahrtausends wird oft
mit Visionen der Zukunft und dem Fortschritt in allen Bereichen des
menschlichen Wissens in Verbindung gebracht. Das Symbol des Blickes in die
Zukunft in Gestalt eines stilisierten Auges, das in das Bild der Sonne
hineingezeichnet ist, finden wir auf dem Averz. Auch die Erde und andere
Planeten des Sonnensystems sind ein Teil des Aufbaus und deuten auf unsere
Stellung im All hin. Der Beginn eines Jahrtausends ist zugleich auch ein
besonderer Anlaß für
die Suche nach dem Daseinszweck der Menschheit und des Einzelnen.
